An Adults Lament

Shehnaz Would you be so kind
Come with me , lets walk behind
Lets look at me once again
On Lifes Journey in the Train ?

To laugh , Jump and simply be happy
To play on with friends and chappies
To be ourselves we could without a care
Lighter were we without these masks we wear

When Sunrise beckoned us to Rise and shine
That life which now seems so divine
Children were we , looking to a bright future
Only dreams it was , that we had to nurture

To those days Shehnaz, when were in kiddie cults
To feel grown up , for we thought we were adults
Nothing was ever wrong, for it was ever alright
Rats and roaches were the only ones to cause a fright

Suddenly , time flew quickly and adults were we
Judged and taxed , for nothing was free
The stains of living were painful and stubborn
Carefree were we, now we had a life to govern

From brothers and sisters sons and daughters
Evolved into wives husbands fathers and mothers
Peeves of childhood that our parents were wrong
The truth of it , our children sing the same song

An adult I yearn not , a little child I now want to be
Let's go there Shehnaz , that's the day I want to see
For when I look back , I tearfully, wistfully smile

Can we go there Shehnaz for at least a little while ?
